OPPORTUNITIES TO SHARE OLDTIME CENTRIFUGAL FUN
2015 PT Wooden Boat Festival "Free Carousel Rides" Info
September 11-12-13, 2015
SPONSORS KEEP EVERYONE RIDING
Your help makes a big difference. It takes over five days to prepare, set-up, and operate the carousel at the festival; it took 10 years, off and on, to build it. Last year, 2014, this rare treat was sponsored by the Wooden Boat Foundation and a generous group of individual donors; previous year too, 2013. Because of this free rides were offered to all children and adults, no limit, all three festival days; this eliminated turning any child (or adult) away. The carousel and its caring crew gave many hundreds of free rides. Aside from riding on land animals and fish, there is also a sailing Polynesian canoe chariot. As you ride you can play the brass ring-catch game, fun that is hard to imagine, there's more to it than you think. For Ring Catching Etiquette click here.
Your 2015 sponsorship makes free-rides possible. Your donations are especially meaningful for the kids that really love riding and ring-catch yet can't afford $1 per ride (elsewhere carousel rides cost $2-$4). Note: The carousel operates late each day to give "open-gate" festival visitors a chance to ride too. 10 sponsorships have been secured to make this happen once again; a single sponsorship is $100, it can be shared among a group of friends. Sponsors are listed below on this site and at the carousel.
Your help is highly appreciated. Without these sponsorships the carousel could not be operated at the festival. When using a ride-ticket purchase/collection style of operation many kids do not get to ride at all and those that do only do it once or twice, thus with a day using the ticket system hardly enough money is made to pay for operator food and fuel. The sponsorship + free-rides system = all the children ride many times and have a hard time leaving the area and the operator gets a little pay for some of the many hours of building, prep and set-up. A Big Thanks and a Win - Win!
Payment: Cash in Hand, or Mail Check payable to Bill Dentzel, 843 53rd Street PT, or PayPal to bilito@gmail.com (go to PayPal.com, no account needed). Questions/comments? contact Bill Dentzel: bilito@gmail.com or 360-531-2812. Thank You, Thank You for making this possible!

FOR OPERATORS ONLY: GUIDELINES
1.) Manage on/off careful loading of riders.
2.) Operate with on/off switch and motor, or use handcrank for carousel, or find mature responsible volunteer cranker.
3.) See that rings are re-collected after each ride and ring catcher is re-loaded (usually done by helpful riders).
4.) See that there is no horse play or bad conduct by riders.
Choose from the schedule below what session(s) you'd like to be in charge of the carousel (I'll be nearby for any assistance). Volunteer operators receive a gate pass, possibly a T-shirt, tips, plus a whole lot of fun with kids and families. Click on link below for guidelines.
Anyone who would like to assist in set-up or break down, Sept. 10th and 14th, contact Bill, this is actually fun too in a quiet way, no crowds. Goes pretty quick.
